Haresfoot Senior School opened in September 1989 to project the educational aims and objectives of the successful Preparatory School on to the secondary phase. The School is located in a beautiful Grade II* listed building with formal gardens designed by Gertrude Jekyll, set in 36 acres of parkland and woods. The School provides a caring and stimulating environment in which all pupils are treated as individuals and encouraged to achieve their 'personal best'. The School sets high standards of achievement and requires good behaviour, courtesy and consideration for others at all times. Entry is usually at age 11, 13 and 16 years, but admission at any stage will be considered. Students cover the National Curriculum and more to GCSE level; a Life Skills course is also in place. There is a Sixth Form which was started in September 1992. There is a strong tradition of Art, Drama and Music within the School enabling students to realise their academic potential, to grow in confidence and improve their communication skills. There are Clubs and extra-curricular Activities which allow students to widen their experience and face new challenges. We offer a Specific Learning Difficulties Department with qualified staff including Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist, for a small proportion of students in each year group, aimed at ensuring that their academic, social and emotional needs are fulfilled. Students leave Haresfoot academically and socially well-equipped to enter an ever-changing world.
